Mobile Essential Configuration (Step 3 of Mobile Configuration)
Overview
This step in the mobile configuration workflow allows Admins only to define the essential information that supports the mobile inspection experience. It includes setting the category for mobile photos and selecting a unique identifier to label each inspection component clearly within the app.
These settings help ensure that inspections are traceable, visually referenced, and meaningfully displayed to field users.
For Inspectors
This configuration step is not available to Inspectors. Your Admin team ensures the proper identifiers and image categories are configured to support your inspection workflow.
For Admins
1. Mobile Inspection Category
Select the appropriate Category used for storing mobile inspection photos. This ensures that any images captured during inspections are correctly classified. If you cannot see any available categories from this dropdown, you can add a category by going to Configuration>Module Config.>Step 4 : Level Configuration and select the appropriate level, scroll down and select the "+Category" Button and add an image category.
Note: Categories function similarly to attachments in CAMS. Currently, only the Inspection Image category is supported for mobile. In future updates, support for additional categories such as PDF attachments and multiple image types may be introduced.
Tip: Categories help organise inspection-related media separately from other file types within the system.
2. Mobile Inspection Unique Identifier (Display Name)
Choose a Level Dependent Field to serve as the display name (unique identifier) for each inspection item shown in the mobile app.
Note: This is typically the asset at the lowest level of the hierarchy - for example, an individual asset uniquely identified by a system-wide asset name or unique ID. This naming convention helps inspectors easily recognise what they are inspecting.
Important: At present, this setting is not configurable after it is applied. Ensure the appropriate identifier is selected before proceeding.
Once both values are selected, click Save to apply the configuration.
Important: If data collection has already been initiated, these settings cannot be changed without first completing existing inspection records or deleting the previously completed inspection data.
Note: If mobile data has already been prepared for this module, you may need to reprocess it to reflect these updates.
